Predator Derby Cancelled on BLM Land!

Online Messenger #296

(view with pictures, as displayed in email)

After relentless pressure from Western Watersheds Project and our allies, the BLM has withdrawn the five-year permit allowing a “predator derby” on more than 3 million acres of BLM lands near Salmon, Idaho.

The event awards prizes to the most wildlife killed and could host up to 500 participants for three days each year. While the derby is still scheduled to take place on Forest Service land, this permit cancellation will eliminate much of the low elevation lands where the hunters were most likely to congregate.

Special thanks to our allies Center for Biological DiversityAdvocates for the West, and Project Coyote!
