Compete For Expiring School Endowment Land Grazing Leases

STEP 1
Obtain Lease List

Individuals or groups wishing to apply for, or review, expiring IDAHO school endowment grazing leases should write to:

Winston Wiggins, Acting Director
Idaho Department of Lands
P.O. Box 83720
Boise, Idaho 83720-0050

When you write, request a list of expiring grazing leases by county. For example, if you wish to see all leases expiring in Bonneville County, request only that county list.

STEP 2
Locate Your Lease

Leases are listed by:

  • Township
  • Range
  • Section or partial section

YOU WILL NEED A BLM 1/100,000 SCALE MAP TO LOCATE THE LEASES IN YOUR AREA OF INTEREST!

STEP 3
Request An Application

If there is a lease that interests you, write again to Acting Director Wiggins and request the following:

  • An application form
  • The Department of Lands staff analysis for that lease which will identify management concerns for that lease. Your application will need to respond to those concerns.
STEP 4
File Your Application

YOU WILL NEED TO INCLUDE A $10.00 NON-REFUNDABLE
APPLICATION FEE, AND THE FIRST YEAR'S LEASE PAYMENT.

Lease fees generally average about 50 cents per acre per year. This fee is based on the number of animal unit months (AUM is the amount a cow and calf can eat in one month) available on that lease according to Department analyses.
